Madonna: Religious Fundamentalist?

In other "pot calling the kettle black" news, Madonna says Paris Hilton's a flake who's not serious about religion.

'Madonna has slammed celebrity socialite Paris Hilton for using Kabbalah as a fashion accessory. The Like A Virgin singer is a dedicated follower of the mystical offshoot of Judaism, along with her film director husband Guy Ritchie, and she insists it takes more to be a "believer" than simply wearing a trendy Kabbalah wristband. Madonna tells website The Scoop, "People like Paris Hilton come into a centre and buy a book or a band and that's it for them. It doesn't mean they study it. It's very hard to be a believer. I'm very serious about it."'

Note to Madonna: fanatical belief in a pop-cult that reduces 4,000 years of mysticism to magical books, hokey water, and the denigration of learning and questioning does not make you serious. It makes you a sham.

Oh, and by the way: IMDB? Madonna's Kabbalah is as much a mystical offshoot of Judaism as Jim Jones' People's Temple was a mystical offshoot of Christianity. Stop dignifying the ravings of a con man.

Hahahahaha! Excellent. I must say, as someone else who "got the hell out of Michigan," Madonna's new accent makes me giggle each time I hear it. Personally, though, if I drank magic water, I'd want it to turn me into a Swedish Sikh.
