1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Made none, kept none, probably won't make any more. Simpler that way.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Nope!

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Not this year, no.

5. What countries did you visit?

None! Good grief, we'll need to remedy that next year.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?

More travel, obviously.

7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Oh, this is a terrible meme. I have nothing to report!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Migrating the system from Solaris to Linux. That's a laurel-resting sort of thing, I tell you.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Failure to stay on target vis-a-vis climbing and getting out more. Still, there's time for that.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

No broken bones this year, but I've got a toe-nail that will be sloughing off someday soon, and I was out sick for a week back in Spring.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

SD card for my Treo. It's like unlocking extra levels in your favorite game.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Yeesh! These are tough questions. 2006 was pretty much a baseline year.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

The President's. Utterly ridiculous.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Rent. Sad but true.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

The midterm elections! It was like waking up from a really bad dream.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?

The Grates, "19 20 20." That is the No Doubt moment of 2006.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner
c) richer or poorer? Richer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Climbing. Traveling.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Wasting time on the computer; flipping channels on TV.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

Going to Seattle and renting a house for the week with my parents and brothers.

21. Did you fall in love in 2006?

With my wife, yet again. It's a continually renewing process.

22. How many one-night stands?

Hehe, silly meme.

23. What was your favorite TV program?

Rome! But right now, we're utterly addicted to DayBreak with Taye Diggs, and I think Supernatural has really hit its stride this year.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Hate is overrated and a waste of time. I'm none too pleased that Pinochet punched out before they could hang him, but there you go.

25. What was the best book you read?

Hm. I'm currently in the middle of System of the World by Neal Stephenson, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, so I'll say that one.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

The Grates. Man, those kids can ROCK!

27. What did you want and get?

The aforementioned SD card. Like Xmas all over again, I tell you. Oh, and a return to sanity in the Congress.

28. What did you want and not get?

Well, my annual order of a quarter ton of chocolate mousse still hasn't arrived. And World Peace is still a pipe dream.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?

Goodnight, And Good Luck

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

37, and I really don't remember!

31.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

If the wankers currently running Yoko's Dad's company into the ground had sold the company for parts thereby resolving otherwise unresolvable economic issues for Yoko's Mom, relieving Yoko of any more stress over the damn thing, and possibly resulting in a windfall-- well, that would have helped.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?

Nonexistent.

33. What kept you sane?

Sweet, sweet love.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

The entire Mythbusters team. They're horribly flawed in their techniques, but they're mighty amusing.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

Still stirring: Iraq, and our policy therein. Also, wtf, Darfur?

36. Who did you miss?

Bill Clinton.

37. Who was the best new person you met?

In a remarkable twist, I haven't met that many new people this year. Hellos to [livejournal.com profile] matrushkaka and [livejournal.com profile] omakase and [livejournal.com profile] polishhomeclub, who are all three very nice people.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.

Financial advisers do not consider $50k enough money to merit their attention.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year

"A knife, a fork, a bottle and a cork,
That's the way you spell New York."
