So it's like this

I was entering in a bunch of names (180+) into a database, and as I was a little punch(card)-drunk toward the end, I thought that one student's name was peculiar enough to make a comment on, in a junior-high-ish sort of way. I first posted a public entry on the name, then changed the entry to friends-only after realizing that it might not have been the most mature thing I've written in a livejournal entry, and now I'm going to delete the silly thing completely. Please understand, this is not due to peer pressure or self-censorship; it's just that as I read the entry now, a few hours later, well-fed and relaxed, it just doesn't make that much sense to me.
So out it goes.
As for unusual names, I've known a few. As a child, I knew a Carrie Coffee. My brother's name is Darth, and my other brother, who joined his last name with his wife's to form Nielsenshultz, has named his son and daughter Liam Gregory and Aisling (pronounced eh-zling) Rose Adeira, respectively. These kids will have no difficulties with spelling when they grow up. I myself was once slated to be Lars or Bjorn. Talk about close calls!

Got Danish?

My grandfather, who came over from Denmark just before WWII, was named Carl WIlliam Nielsen. My father is Dann William Nielsen. I am Erik William Nielsen. When I have a son, I'm sorta honor-bound to name him something beginning with F. Mind you, the only male Norse names I've found starting with an F are those of dwarves and dragons-- not auspicious.

Ah, see, but that would void the purpose of voiding the entry. Just trust me, it wasn't that funny or amusing.

Oh, who am I kidding. Meeting's end with a trip to the bar and our most popular event is the weekly trivia contest there. We occasionally break out the period clothing, but that's about the extent of our medieavalism. But we do have vikings.
My roommate is Danish, though. And before I got my computer set up, I used her crazy Danish one, so I picked up some danish. I'm practically fluent. Ny vindue, nej? *struts*
