Humanity, Homo floresiensis; Homo floresiensis, humanity.

That is the coolest thing I've seen all week.

It just seems to unbelievable. I mean, it seems credible... But the idea that these things were around only 12,000 years ago? Holy shit. That'd be so cool if it was real, but I remain slightly skeptical. But hopeful and willing to be convinced. (Although the guys who says he hopes to find them still alive in the woods somewhere is so definitely on crack...)

What's really cool is how well this meshes with the adaptations made by the other big mammal on the island, the stegodons (pigmy elephants). If Homo erectus evolved into Homo floresiensis while Asian elephants evolved into stegodons, then even the most backwater Board of Education is going to have to admit that this whole evolution thing just might have legs. :P

Now, tell me you're registered to vote and you've already sent in your Absentee Ballot.

You kidding? Short of God making an eleventh commandment-- Thou Shalt Teach Evolution-- the Boards of Education in many Southern states ain't ever going to be content with letting non-Creationism into our schools.

As for voting... Yes, I'm registered.

Yes, I sent away for an absentee ballot. Did so in August.

And I never receieved anything back. Perplexed. I don't even know what was supposed to happen, really-- I mean, it /said/ they'd mail me something, but nothing ever arrived. So, no, I guess I'm not voting.

(But, I can't guarantee I wouldn't have voted for Bush, so likely you wouldn't want me voting anyway. ;)

This is going to sound weird given my politics and all that, but I'm much more concerned that you vote than whom you vote for. If I wake up on Wednesday morning to find that 99% of all Americans voted, and they elected GWB, then I will not be pleased, but I'll know that the democratic process won. That's some comfort.

It looks like you may be out of luck this year, but here's a link to Georgia's Election Division so you'll know whom to complain to.
