What bugged me was that even after we'd seen what a tsunami can do (Indonesia), the tsunami warning was broadcast once via TV, but then nothing except on the 10 PM news to announce it had been canceled. Guess they figured it was up to the beach patrol to get folks away from the surf, but it seemed like a very muddled media response to what could have been a major emergency.
One fun thing was when the local news was interviewing an earthquake expert, the reporter asked twice: "With this earthquake, the 7.9 in Chile, and the one near Palm Springs, doesn't this mean California is due for a major quake soon?!?" Nice way to fan the fear, buddy...
